Hall? Hall.
Saturday 27 August 2016

After being in NTU for approximately three weeks, I guess it's safe for me to put out my verdict about Hall! Before coming to NTU, I dreaded Hall because I had no idea what it was like staying with a bunch of other Uni kids and just having the chalet-feel everyday of school. I remember scouring Google for relevant blog posts related to Halls in NTU, but only chanced upon a few. So I'm going to document this for myself in the future when I'm reading this, and possibly potential NTU students who are a bit apprehensive about Hall.

Since I stay in the East, living in Hall is inevitable. I take around 2 - 2.5 hours just to reach NTU lol. I got the honour of staying in one of the oldest and ugliest Halls in NTU, but thank God it's the nearest hall to my school so all's good :-)

There are things to get used to when living in your hall, like taking care of your room, having to walk so far for your toilet (depends on where your unit is, mine is at the extreme end of the corridor and I have to walk all across just to get to the toilet), having no air-con (depends as well; if you got an air-con unit, thank the Lord) and washing your clothes - then again, I haven't gotten so busy that I've been unable to bring my clothes back for a wash so :P

Usually halls have canteens near them, and if you're lucky your canteen would have great food. Mine isn't too bad, just that it looks so shabby on the outside that hardly anyone eats there except for the residents (lol). But that can be viewed as a blessing in disguise since this means that I hardly have to queue for my food! :-) The prices are usually a lot cheaper as compared to the usual prices that you see at food courts or hawker centres, so take advantage of your canteen!!!

Another aspect of Hall would be the activities or, in more familiar terms, CCA. I've joined two and haven't really gone for many practices yet so I can't say anything much about them, just that they usually take place really late at night to accommodate everyone's schedules, so be prepared!

That's all that I can think of now (I'm really tired because I just completed 2 assignments at one shot) so I'll leave it as that. I doubt I'll come back to update this post of mine, but I may post a follow-up in the future [or not])

Loving Uni so far xx

*by the way, I added the tag University so it's easy to filter out the fluff from my school stuff lol but I think I'll be blogging a lot about this new chapter of my life! Let's see how it goes. Uni makes me busy and tired.
